Monty

Better than a template: one written for each person.

Monty reads your new X followers every morning, tells you who could hire you and why, and writes a first message from what they actually posted. You decide and send.

What every good first message has

Whatever you sell, the first DMs that get answered look alike. They’re short: readable in a few seconds. They’re specific: built on one true detail about the person, so it’s obvious it was written for them. And they’re easy to answer: one question, the kind you can reply to in a few words, with nothing to sign up for.

What they leave out matters as much: no pitch in the first line, no link, no compliments that could apply to anyone, and no request for a call before the other person has said a word.

A good cold DM doesn’t feel cold. It feels like the next step after something they said.

That’s why it helps to show up before you message. Reply thoughtfully to a couple of their posts. When your DM arrives, your name is familiar, and your message reads like a continuation, not an interruption.

Questions

Do cold DM templates work on X?

A template on its own rarely works, because people can tell when a message could have gone to anyone. A template as a structure works well: start from one specific thing they wrote, ask one easy question, and save the pitch for later. Every template here has brackets for the specific part.

Why do my cold DMs get no replies?

Usually one of three things: the message is about you rather than them, it asks for too much (a call, a demo) before they know you, or it lands from a stranger in their message requests. Replying to a couple of their posts first, then writing something short and specific, fixes most of it.

How many cold DMs should I send a day?

Fewer than you think. Five thoughtful messages to the right people beat fifty generic ones, and X limits how many messages an account can send to people who don’t follow it. Quality, then consistency.

Is there a tool that writes them for me?

Yes: the DM opener generator writes three openers from someone’s bio or post. Monty does it every morning for your new followers. You always send them yourself.
