Milo preps your calls
Follow up without the nudge.
No reply yet, or a conversation that went quiet? Get follow-ups that bring something new each time, and know when to send them.
Three follow-ups appear here, each from a new angle: add something useful, ask an easier question, or close kindly and leave the door open.
Monty remembers who is due a follow-up.
In the app, Talks shows every conversation waiting on you and every follow-up that’s due, with a draft ready. You decide, you send.
How to use it
- Say where you are: no reply yet, or they replied and then it went quiet.
- Paste your first message (and theirs, if they answered), so the follow-up doesn’t repeat you.
- Choose how long it’s been. The tone shifts with time: a nudge after two days reads differently from one after a month.
Why most follow-ups don’t work, and these do
Most people never follow up at all. Those who do usually send the same message again, shorter and with a hint of guilt. Neither gives the other person a new reason to answer.
A good follow-up changes the angle. It adds something useful (an idea, an example, something you noticed), or asks a different question that’s easier to answer, or closes the loop kindly so they can come back when the timing is right. Each one should still make sense if it’s the only message they read.
Space them out: a few days, then a week, then longer. Two follow-ups after the first message is plenty.
And when they do reply, answer what they actually said. A reply is an invitation to a conversation, not a cue to paste your pitch.
Questions
How long should I wait before following up on a DM?
Give it a few days. Most replies to a first message come within the first day or two, but plenty arrive later, so two to four days is a fair first wait. Then wait longer between each follow-up, not shorter.
How many times should I follow up?
Twice is usually enough after the first message, each with a new angle. A kind last note that leaves the door open is better than a fourth nudge. If they don’t answer after that, the timing is probably wrong, not your message.
What should a follow-up say?
Something new: a useful idea, an example, a different and easier question. Never “just bumping this” or “did you see my message?”: that asks them to do work for you and gives nothing back.
They replied, then went quiet. Now what?
Pick the tool’s “They replied” option and paste their last message. Monty writes a next step that answers what they actually said, and only suggests a call if their reply shows real interest.
Does Monty send follow-ups for me?
No. Here and in the app, you send every message yourself. In the app, Talks reminds you who is due a follow-up and drafts it.
